this is my fourth weekend on a countdown till freedom is seized from me

nah, it's not that bad, but got to get a little self-pity

gonna get going soon, or i'll be late again

it'll be a whole two days of fun

to create a whole lot of memories

that might be useful in weeks to come

Work is going to be going full blast

as the main project is about to commence

life's just gonna get exciting, ain't it?

today, 25 of august, is where my YOG journey as a volunteer would end

i would declare that it was a fruitful and purposeful journey

fruitful; as i have taken photos with tom daley and megan sylvester

purposeful; as i have spend my free time volunteering and i have learnt many skills

like from guiding of groups to taking care of kids

it will be difficult for me to not wake up tomorrow and head for the village

and once again my life will be back to slacking and working

i had really really enjoyed the company of my fellow volunteers and it had been an enjoyable 10++ days

rather than making this post sounds gloomy

China boys will be back soon!

they're coming back on the 27th, 5am or so

the train doesn't even operate that early

but once they're back i have new company, hopefully

Have a safe trip back home!

The 5th Day at YOV

i was lazy to blog on what happened from the first to the fourth day

basically i'm working as a tour guide in the Youth Olympic Village

i bring S'pore Primary and Secondary student around the village

to experience and learn about YOG and most of all, have FUN

Today i was facilitating Monfort Junior School

i had enjoyed the interaction again, they were a bunch of cooperative kids

they were a little talkative, they liked to be heard and i just can't get them to get into two neat lines while touring the village

the reason might be that they're really excited

throughout the last half of the tour, they were really hungry

some of them kept bugging me about hunger

with their young hungry faces, i feel for them, but i can't do much

how can i forget about the kid whom have a strong passion for softball,

i felt it

he told me his story about how he got into the school's softball team

very exciting story he told

i was motivated by him, not very much, but he did attract my attention for one.

Before he left, he asked if i had facebook, he was the only one that i was willing to say "yes, i have"

i can't image if all of them adds me, Haha, disastrous

also while i was briefing the school for one of the station,

this old guy came up to me and took a friendship-band-looking-bracelet and shoved it near my hand but not on my hand

and then it dropped onto the ground

to think about it, i then realised he was trying to wear the friendship-band-looking-bracelet on me

but it dropped

i picked it up

and he was pushing it to me

in his foreign language

he said stuff, stuff that i can't decipher till now

i bet he said he's giving me the friendship-band-looking-bracelet

i guess that from his body language

i thanked him with my best body language thanking

it all happened super fast

i guess he is a colombia's NOC

cos the friendship-band-looking-bracelet says colombia

The receiving of the bracelet makes me feel happy and special

i guess it was lucky

if i could meet him again, i would show him the the bracelet fits well and properly thank him again.

New Found Friend (talking bout' friendship, relationship's overrated)

let me pour out my thoughts on what would happen when my friend (anyone of them) gets a GF.

what you'll be losing is the

together time (you used to have)

no more talks on how good it feels to be single

lesser activity which will cost more bucks (cos money goes to GF)

and when you meet up, it's all about his GF this, or his GF that

okay, okay i'm just being a pessimist

this time when i'm put to the test, it's different

i know what would eventually become and decided to move on with my life

so get another friend, but it ain't so easy

it takes with a huge scoop of affinity

but what happens when you befriend your friend's brother?

i'm in a good position to explain this

I had experience the almost exact feelings I felt (when the friendship had just started out my your friend) from the brother

well, people do change through time, you'll be experiencing them differently, at different phase

but the surprising thing is that the lost feeling does still exist and could be retrieved

little things, like hanging out with the brother triggers memories or sometimes when stronger, déjà vu

it was like time travelling back in time to my friend

and I would reflect on how that time was simple and blissful

at the same time, realisation would make me feel that I should treasure the current time I am existing in

therefore, i strongly think that i should embrace the present

to me, this experience was interesting and fascinating

thus i wanted to share about it

but i took a long ass time to type it out

to explain it the way i thought was most appropriate

let me start with what i did today:

Nationals (LifeSavingCompetition)

this year, i'm one of those who comes late, sits and watching the com.

i wasn't much into the whole com.

except when it comes to our own competitors, i would shout, cheer them on

indeed, the club has improved this year!

we bagged a sliver medal

we only won a bronze last year, so it's considered as an improvement

so i guess our competitors are now celebrating or sleeping at the loft

And what i have been doing lately:

YOG (Volunteer)

i've joined YOG as a volunteer

thanks to my friends, they got me in

okay, back to my role in YOG

i'm ushering students ( from S'pore primary and secondary schools ) around the Olympic Village Square

although i'm not enlisted early ( yup, i'm still pissed about it ), but at least i'm doing something that's worth my time

to me it will be one of the events that the country would remember long enough till i die

so i''m officially commencing my duty on 16th August ( haha, that would be the day when the brothers unite )

i went to the YOG opening rehearsal last friday

and it was freaking awesome, that's what i think tho

it's better than this year's NDP, haha, it's my opinion

Anyway, i'm happy to be involved in YOG

tell you what sucks the most

It's when you have a PS3 and you can't play it

i had went all the way to Wisma Atria to collect it yesterday night

sony sent me a sms ard 7pm and i felt that i just have to collect it, hoping to have a good time in the night

got to cab there as i have to reached there before 9pm or it'll be closed and it cost 16bucks

waited for ard 30mins before my turn

i passed my collection ticket to the customer care officer

he typed some stuff then went to get my PS3 and passed it to me in this almost over-used sony plastic (well it's at least a sony plastic bag)

I was worried if the PS3 was really repaired, so i asked if it was working or not

that person replied 'if it wasn't working, we wouldn't call you right?'

well, not much to ask then

i further ask if it was not working would he fund me the transportation fee to take it back

he kinda surrendered and gave me his name card and said i could call him and service man would come to pick it up if it was faulty

unfortunately, when i went home and test my console, there was no visual on the TV

first was because the console couldn't read my game discs and after them servicing it now have no visual

so my friend had advice me not to call back to the annoying customer care officer

he would rather me send an email to the higher ups

so i will heed his advice

he's helping to to draft a complain letter, he's good at that

hopefully sony people get to read my email tomorrow

and give me a call

i just want them to send technician to my home and fix my PS3 ASAP

wanna treasure all my time to play it

okay, my newly bought (which has been only played for a day) PS3 is currently at Sony's repair center

not sure whether if i got cheat or not but i got the console from an online shop (qisahn.com)

they're quite reputable online but anything can be fabricated easily

i choose to think that it's just bad luck, it's not the shop's fault

but they should have at least offered me to trade for a new set

instead of advising me to get to the Sony repair center

just have to endure the pain of being addicted to RockBand for 5working days before they ring me to collect it, if it has been fixed

life has been kind on me

cos god does not want me to suffer

thus i have no NS enlistment letter

(have to get over the feeling of being neglected by the NS)

thus the reason why i went to get a PS3 is:

PS3 = No Enlistment letter + Extra Cash From Lifeguard Duties

talking about books, i've been reading Tuesdays With Morrie

it's that kinda books which is being classified under INSPIRATIONAL

the story make you look back on your life

and you'll find yourself reflecting

it does make me feel holy to a certain extent

Drunk Out

went out to Dempsey Hill last night to have a drink or two

but ended up getting well drunk

everything was slowed down by like a second

but i'm still clear headed
this is the second time that i had been this drunk in my life

we started drinking at a thai microbrewery

we had dunkel beer and some snacks

it was really noisy and hard to have any convo. thus heading to the wine company

we had 4 bottles of wine

1 white wine and the others were red

it was a crazy experience but we were in safe hands

with the wine, we had cheese and sausage too

the convo. was good and it make the gathering purposeful

i was well drunk when we finished the 2nd bottle

getting to the toilet was really fun as i was a little disorientated

when we hit the 3rd bottle, my reaction time got slowed down

but i could still function normally and this time getting to the toilet was difficult

we kinda stumbled around

I didn't suffer any hangover the next morning

cause we had good quality wine

it was a well enjoyable night

i've been looking around for the reasonably cheap LCD television

it's for gaming purpose only just for the soon-to-be bought PS3

so it's down too either Sharp or Samsung

i had a difficult time deciding which to choose

and i'm also stuck with the decision if i should get the TV and PS3

but my dad's paying, so why not

I haven't been exercising much cos running by yourself sucks bigtime

and i'm going to be spending my time on every Monday and Wednesday in school assisting beginners swimmers to swim

so i'm gonna lose the training times on Mon and Wed

but if i'm hardworking enough, i should join the competition training on Thursdays

Hence, i'm not burning my fats away in a whole week

recently, i've been invited to NTU for a talk cos i'd been accepted into Biological Sciences (BS)

i wasn't expecting much from it at first but thank god i went for the talk and it did made me think about the limited choices i have

there were some reason why i was reluctant to enter BS at first

1. I don't really like researching anymore

after attending the talk it seems that there are other fields of researching that is not totally like researching, it sounds like crap but it gives me hope and i've decided to take my chances again.

2. In BS there weren't any specialization in the degree

from the talk, they were saying that within 2years or so, they will implement specialization within the course of BS

i've also talked to some current students and realised that i need not wait for NUS rejection letter, cos with my GPA, they would be sure to reject me.

at least i wouldn't be sitting aside and hoping that it would come

also they said that i will be given up to a max. of 5 core module exemption for year 1 modules (year 1 modules consist of 8 core modules and a few electives modules)

but i must also be aware of taking the exemptions as some modules is related to a certain extend to the year 2 modules

so these are some things that are on my mind currently

And graduation day is coming, on the 25th of may

i'm not so looking forward to it, haha

Okay that's all and enjoy the weather.

and ya i've yet to received the enlistment letter! darn it.

messed up life

i've been messed up lately

but everything's fine as of now

i've not been updating my life on a regular basis, darn it

blogging might be a good therapy for me

so lotsa things have happened

and i'm still awaiting for the enlistment letter

ffs can't they send me in quickly

i have been working all this while

and i nearly bought a PS3

i was convincing myself how much fun i'll derive from it

in the end i scrape that idea and maybe i can get a itouch?

i was thinking if i would make a good teacher?

maybe one that teaches sports or the foundation of sports

sports is a new and emerging field that has potential

and the government is pumping in quite a huge sum of ka-ching

it might be one of the jobs that i might enjoy

teaching/coaching teens or kids might not be so boring afterall

well, gonna start experimenting if i'm cut out for this job or not

sometimes when you're excited about, like an event

and you were told you'll be part of it

but the outcome is that you'll not really gonna be a part of anything

and that's when all the fun had gotten stolen from you

it's not about blaming people on who cause what

it's more like everything just becomes boring (sian)

and ffs your day could get any better because of whatever had happened

the event's (Freshman Orientation Camp) happening starting tonight till sunday

gave up my saturday shift as i tot i was going to be there tonight

it seems that i'm invited only to saturdays night BBQ

i would say, it beats better than nothing

thinking positive would make everything better for myself, i guess

but i'm still curious on what had affected the decision making process, Haha

i help some old couple at pool today

and found out they're from inner Mongolia ( i tot they were from Shanghai)

well, got to talked to the gramps and learnt that his son (or his grandson was studying in NTU chem eng.)

and he said he will be back tomorrow to give me his address (in China)

so that i could go to his place to experience Mongolia when i go China again

dudes, you sure can guess my facial expression at that pt of time

i was like... ...

but i could break his china heart, i smile and nodded

well been working all morning

had lunch with youwei at Astons

and thinking of the choice University in the night

i really do envy the cold weather you'll get in Shanghai

talking about god, i saw this middle-aged women 'praying' to god on the MRT

everyone heard what she's 'praying' for as she was loud

it's freaky but at least you'll see that it has brought comfort to her life

went for the first NCAP lesson today

it's a basic course needed, before being able to apply for SI (swimming Instructor)

it's well relaxing

since i've graduated, should spend my time more purposefully

gonna skip training tml

cos i'm having full shift (0745 - 2145) at two diff pools

ivan, ck, justin, kelvin and I went meeting our teacher from sec sch

i felt great after meeting her, it's like a yearly thing that we would do

by just sitting there and listening for ard 3hrs made me felt that i have learnt a lot from her

she's a ground to earth person i would say, everything she said is reality

my A maths was salvaged by her during O levels

smth she said that i couldn't forget is that a person's character is enough to define how far he will reach

another thing she said that i find enriching today was that

Being open-minded to every one is possible but it has a certain degree of difficulty to it

you might fail being open-minded to someone, but dun give up

the process might end you up bashing the wall but it is needed

after venting your angry or pek chek-ness

you can re-evaluate yourself and see where your problems lies

naturally you'll feel better and you will be more willing to accept other's opinion

so i'll end it here, hoping she'll live life happy.

It had been 8 hours since the China Boys departed to Shanghai.

It was memorial to be having fun playing mahjong and looking that anxious Dehong saying '我还没有pack好我的luggage leh', but still he was thrashing the rest on the mahjong table.

The feeling was tense and maybe sad but being masked up with some excitement

After taking group pictures and photos with the departurees, we bid farewell

And it's six months later before they return

We will be missing you guys!

Shanghai Trip

The train ride wasn't as bad as i expect
in actual fact, it's rocking cool
it looks new, and the bed is somewhat comfy, SOMEWHAT
haha, it's an experience tho
the train took 10 hours before arriving in Shanghai
my uncle was there to pick me up
and that's where i am staying for 3 nights

we went around Shanghai
quite fun tho
and i met up with jill from swim team
we (sam, jill and I) went snowboarding then, erm C.L.U.B>ing
haha

it was fun in shanghai, it's more develop
and the MRT looks somewhat like S'pore
lots of picture are to be uploaded

today i worked from 8.30am till 10.30pm

ya, i'm a slave, haha
what to do, my marks are in his hands
i'm still considering if i wanna go to shanghai or not
it's like too many things are clouding my mind
i do not like things cramming up in my week
the only attractive stuff in shanghai, is to snowboard
at one of their indoor resort
that's what attracting me

if i'm going to shanghai
i might most probably be staying in my shanghai uncle house
he's a local there
i saw him a few times when he came over to S'pore to visit
so to me, it's still a stranger-stranger affair, but with the word uncle

oh and the transport to shanghai, is to take train
not MRT,
it's that kinda train, that i dun wanna stay long in it
so it depends for now, it depends

i dunno how to explain it, but it's just the way it is to me

but i really can't wait to go back to S'pore
Tianjin is fun and relaxing
but still, who doesn't miss home

on the 99th, sunday, we went around shopping again, as usual
what's cool was our lunch on that day
we went into a classy restaurant
and i ordered pork chop, or something around there with a classy name
and we our orders sum up to 100 plus RMB
and they gave us all some, just a little bit, of red wine
haha

on the 100th, it rained so very heavily in the morning thus, i need not go to the lab
so i went in the afternoon, and did a little of precipitation expt
and that's all

if the coming shanghai trip is cancelled
then i think i'll be returning earlier

just two weeks before i can return to S'pore

Okay, i've been doing the same expt for weeks
and i'm getting more and more buay tahan
the expt is simple i admit but it's just that the willinhness of doing it is not there
but two weeks left

it's very soon
i still am able to hang in there
and i know i should
rather than going mad in my lab

anyway, i got some rest this morning
as i had some stomach discomfort
*hahaha

so hopeful i get the next week off as i will try to start on the final report
and the the week after, if everything goes well and planning is up

Today, i went to settle my VISA
without fail, again, the school made us take two trips
they printed my copy of registration to this Uni
but didn't print my friend's and claimed that it's okay, as my friend needn't need one
but after getting to the embassy, they say it differently
so we have to go back to take my friend's copy
then make a trip back
Good lord!

okay, i talk about some happier stuff,
i just recevied my external hard disk that i got in China
it's 500GB
it's super big
and i also got 2 earpiece
as my current is spolit

my senior told me that my attachment would roughly end on 15 or 16th this month
and after that, most probably i would go to shanghai

We went SUSHI Buffet today
it costed 58RMB person anout 12.20SGD as recently the exchange rated is 4.7
i thought at first that it will taste bad,
but in fact the food taste quite nice and there were lots of choices
i like the apple sushi and peach rolls
these are items that i had never tried before
everything till now is great
and tomorrow i need to take another trip to settle the VISA problem
just by submitting a few forms
and it'll be fine!

and recently i made a new specs in Tianjin
looks good i think
cost 398RMB
and after collecting it, i realised that the frame was from S'pore B.U.M equipment

there's a 3 days holiday in tianjin, for celebrating Dragon Boat Festival
where you will eat dumplings (btw my grandma's dumpling's damn nice, i'm gonna missed it)
but instead i was doing experiment during the holidays
maybe my senior got some plans for me
but anyway, attachment's gonna end soon
so... hahaha

went shopping today
and i got quite a bit of stuff, i spent 300RMB today, haha
bagging a volcom shorts and 2 shirts
and other misc. stuff

SOON ILL BE BACK!!!

okay, i have been doing experiment and thinking of home everyday

oh i nearly became an illeagl immigrant in china.
How?
The Visa that i applied from S'pore China embassy was only limited for 90 days (~3months) and worst it was a tourist Visa.
My attachment was for 4 months, i fine with the extension but i can't believe they gave me a tourist Visa when i told them i'm going to China to study.
So for few days , i went here and there to find out what i need to change my tourist Visa into a "study" Visa and then extend it.
Nice one to the embassy in s'pore.

84th and 85th day (Conquering TaiShan)

DAY 84
It was a freaking tiring experience for me

We left Tianjin at 7am in the morning
And reached ShanDong after 5 hours of train ride

[about the train, erm, i have no comments, haha
it was a good experience i would say,
it's unlike the bullet train i sat to beijing on my last trip

Conmen are a plenty nowadays, thus our senior, who's a citizen of China was very careful of that
We had to buy tickets for the train ride home for the second day
The normal ticketing counter was packed with a lot of people
At first, our senior wanted us to use the excuse as foreigner, to ask some person at the Front of the queue to buy tickets for us
In the end we saw some 'helpful man' (maybe he's a taxi driver- but he uses his own car)
He brought us to another place which sells ticket at an extra of 5RMB
Hence saving us time, he then asked if we were hungry, and brought us to some restaurant, and he took a cab fee of 5RMB
We looked at the restaurant meun and it doesn't interest us, so we left
And had lunch at some other place

We decided to start climbing the 泰山 at evening
thus we went to a park to slack around and wait for the time to pass
Before that we went to get some snacks and lots of cucumber and tomatoes and 甜瓜 (taste like honeydew but has a size of an apple)
we walk around in the park, not like parks in s'pore, this park was BIG

At around 5pm, we went to 泰山
The entrance fee costed us 120RMB and another 2RMB was for insurance
Climbing 泰山 is all about climbing stairs (as in staircases that u climb in ur HDB)
There are steeps step, narrow ones too
Starting was fine and there was only little steps, it just gets worst as we advance
At about 6 to 7pm, the sky turns dark, there were no lamps by the side of all the stairs of 泰山
We either rely on the star lights (cos' there was no moon) or our torchlights
When advancing there are a lot of temples
Many believers come to this mountain to pray too
There was one temple which they give free joss stick to pray
lol, there's no such thing as free stuff, so we were careful about it

There's a section of 泰山 which is considered as the difficult part
It's called the 十八盘 (18 i dunno-what-to-call-it )
Anyway, there was the '18 slow pace' and '18 fast pace' from what i understand
The embarrassing moment was when i got cramps in my calves
I was walking like a duck
Out of the 5 of us, only i got cramps
It's like WTH
So the 18 i dunno-what-to-call-it was a torture to me

This mountain climbing, was fun, but it wasn't fun in the sense that we climb all to the top, without stopping for a long break, mostly were short breaks
What i think that would be fun, is maybe have a card game in between or something like telling a ghost story or whatever
By rushing all the way to top, will cause serious leg pain on the day after, hahaha

We reached the top at about 12am
We didn't want to rent motels, as it was expensive
Thus we rent 'thick winter China Army' coats
And using the table mats we bought
We slept on the ground
The wind was unbearable thru out the night
What's worst was, everytime i turn my legs, they cramp
The were cramps on my calves and thighs, almost thru out the night

DAY 85
We woke up at around 3.30am
there were many people walking pass us
seems like they are rushing for a good spot to view the sunrise

OH the reason or aim for climbing 泰山 was to look at the beautiful sunrise

so, we need good spots too, and we woke up and start advancing
the whole time it was cold, and our legs are tired
mood wasn't very good too

We got quite a good spot to view but it was a waste when the sun didn't showed up at 4.30am
that's the reported time
as it was summer, the sun rises much earlier
i was about to give up when a glow of intense orangey-red light appeared at the horizon
everyone was like wooooooow (said in a very CHINESE way)
it lighten up the mood
so we started what we're suppose to do, take lotsa lotsa pictures

After that, we prepared to decent
It's wasn't very easy, as you to be careful or else, it's a fall to your grave
But we took a lesser time to descent then to ascent
The scenery was better when u can see it
It was around 12pm when we reached the bottom of 泰山
I was so damn happy, as it was torturing
Our train ride home, was at 3.56pm
Thus we found some shade area,
Took the table mat out and slept on the ground
I felt that it was cool and interesting as i would definitely not do it in s'pore

This train ride back was longer than the pervious
as the previous was a fast speed train
this was a normal speed
haha i think the difference was that one stops more and the other stops lesser
we played cards on the train and even play with stranger
haha
but seriously, i would never take a train again, unless it's MRT

cos' i'm going to climb a mountain in China tml
it's called 泰山, not tarzan
it have a great historical value,
in the past only great emperor are allowed to climb it
great meaning, they have contribute in many ways to the country or they are very respected

so tml i'm going to climb this mountain
i'll be departing from tianjin tml @ 6.30am
and will be taking a train to near shandong, where that mountain is

first of all, it's not that i went lazy and decided not to blog
it's due to the china web provider, they blocked blogspot
my cousin tried changing the IP add but still unable to bypass
after, one of my swim mate, yuxian, who was in hangzhou, China, she gave me a website and presto, now, i'm able to blog again.

these few days has een the same
experiments, experiments
worst of all, same experiment everyday
dun even think of going out for some shopping
it's fine here, can't wait to go home, there are lots of things to be done.

Woots! i finally went swimming today by myself
To swim in China, is quite ex i suppose, it costed me 12RMB ( >2.5SGD)
More ex than Jurong West Swimming Complex, where it cost 1SGD,
and i can even get in for free
also i got a pair of goggles for about 15SGD, their best goggles in the shop
it's red, it's nice
and a crappy swim cap, it's in their regulations to wear swim cap when swimming
which cost 2.10SGD
it felt really great after swimming
and i found out that not only my stamina decreased but my strokes are crappy
i'm dead meat, need to train more in china liao
oh and there's a time limit where you can stay in the pool, it's about 1.5 hours
i total swam 400m free, 400m breast, 100m side and 100m back
and after that, i'm freaking tired

It has been the same for these few days
experiments were being repeated

and there were breaks between the experiments, so it's not too stressful.

Sometimes in the night, we would go for badminton just below our hostel

or we would play cards in the room

it's getting boring
but that's research i guess
trying to reach to the point where everything's fun while doing experiment on a repeat routine

but still the life here is quite okay

so i guess, i just have to live with it

I spent two days to upload these photos, tough job

this mayday holiday has been quite good i would say

finally i went to the zoo

and the day was as warm or rather hot, very much like s'pore

woohoot, i miss the weather over at s'pore

anyway, presenting Tianjin Zoo

These are homosapians, freaking lots of them, can't blame it, it's public holiday

a lot a lot of china people going to zoo

the tiger looks gloomy

So does the lion too, not quite like the lion king i was educated with

OH ya, the cubs are really cute i think

these are salamanders, my first time seeing it, but the water's too cloudy

feeding is sure allowed here, all sort of food are being fed

out of everything in this zoo, i like this the most

Raccoon, damn cool, first time seeing it too

this thousand year old tortoise is freaking rich

this enclosed place where you'll feel global warming at it's fullest, it's where they keep the crocs, it's very stuffy and hot

they are always looking so cute

today, we went shopping again
it was raining when we left our hostel
but heck, we still went to flag a cap and got to bing jiang dao
we went for lunch at pizza hut, hahah
i ordered pasta, but the portion was small -_-
the pizza came, and it look a little bigger than a personal pan pizza in s'pore
double =_=
we saw many people stacking up their salad bowl, lol

we shopped till 7plus in the evening
i got a jacket for 130RMB (~29SGD)
and a cargo long pants from S&K for 159RMB (~35SGD)

three days of holiday will commence tomorrow, it's mayday
i'm looking forward to waking up late and slacking

today's expt (experiment) was easy
i was making the alginate again

in the night, i went to Vitas Concert
he's a russian singer
and the song is good, although i do not know what he's singing
CC, my senior (One of the shijie from our lab) and i went together
we got the tickets a month ago
we went in at about 7pm and my shijie suggested something
our seat are the $180 ones and she wanna have a closer view of Vitas
so we went to the $380 section, and randomly sat down
i was quite uneasy, but she comfort me by saying, china is like that de
haha, quite comforting tho
but at about 7.20pm, the seat owners came, so we were chased back to our seats
the main attraction i think about this singer, is his high pitching singing
i admit that it's good and i suppose i got addicted too

about 30mins before the end of the concert, shijie went to the washroom
and she didn't came back, but she sent a message to us saying that she's at the A-seatings there
which is the section right infront of the stage
i suppose she used some tricks of her's to get all the way in front
and she must be screaming her lungs out
after the concert, she even venture to the back of the stage, hoping to get a glimpse of Vitas

everything seems normal after we got out of the concert hall
until we saw a car and people crowding it
we told her that it may be Vitas inside
she ran lightspeed to the car's side window
and i started asking for CC's camera
i can't possibly miss taking a picture of her going mad
it was indeed Vitas inside
she was trailing the car for about 7sec
before the car increase speed
she was so excited and kept on saying that she was at most 1metre away from Vitas
it was freaking funny
sadly i didn't capture a good picture of her chasing the car

we were think on where to go this coming china public holiday
May the first (it's on friday, saturday and sunday)
at first we planned to go to Shanghai
we went too late, train tickets have been fully booked since last week
so we left two choice,
either Beijing again or Dalian
if it's beijing, i would want to go their zoo, theme park, and real greatwall
if Dalian, i totally do not know that place, but i heard it's kinda like singapore, i think it's cool
but it will be more expensive cos' we'll be taking plane
few more days to ponder about it.

we then stumble to an IT mall

and i got some games for the person

due to the heavy lunch, dinner was at 9.30pm
we ordered korean delivery

the weather has been cold lately
and i'm sure it's going to get better
i got stranded in the lift of my lab
lucky me, i wasn't alone
i was with the other three of my seniors
why the heck did i got myself stuck?
we went to collect high purity water from the ground floor
4 huge bottles
the lift door closed
press the button with the number 4
rummble...
the lights went off
dim orange light from a corner lighted up
we can see light entering from the slit of the doors
all 4 of us were first timers
so we called some person
and they reported the trouble
we were saved within mintues
it was real funny
and became the joke of the day
it was cool.

i made some korean friends

so we went to the so called orchard road in tianjin to do some shopping

i fell asleep in the meeting today
i didn't slept all the way through
but i doze off for like a second or two

it was a meeting for our lab seniors
they have it almost every saturday
the professors will be there
and our seniors would share their progress of the research with everyone present
we were told to attend this very meeting
as it will be the last chance to see the professor who made this attachment happen
cause the professor will be going to the states for a long time

today's lunch was superb
when i entered the restaurant
i thought i smelled satay and chicken curry
i was happy at first
but after, disappointment
the menu was similar to any other restaurant in tianjin
but they have some unique dishes
that's still lingering in my mind

i was in the lab the whole of today
and watching ghost whisperer
as my senior got something to do
and i was left untouched
'cept for arranging some blue and yellow tips

cc and i ran an errand for our shijie
we ride their bicycles and went somewhere outside tianjin uni
it was not very far away
but the road was way damn scary
trust me, it was dangerous everywhere
the bikers on the road were a threat rather than the cars
there are many people who prefer to ride bicycles in China
so they have special bike lanes on the road for bicycles
which i think that is an awesome idea
but still i'm not used to it
to me, it was like a road race
but it was fun
but if given a chance to try again
i would never, unless neccessary

and i obtain a 'jing' of walnut from cc
he owned me
it's kinda cool to see walnut in China
the kinda with the shell on

as the dry freezing machine has not been repaired yet
i have the free time to write my report and relax
i'm lucky!
but i just have the feeling that when the machine is functional
there'll be hell lot of work for me
for now i shall enjoy till i get sick of it

the temperature in tianjin have been fluctuating recently
it can be almost 25 degrees in the mid afternoon and 8 degrees in the night
i definitely hate the cold weather
and last night it rained, it was around 3pm
there were lightning but i think i didn't really hear any loud thunder
the thunder's is muffled in tianjin
and when it was raining, i was really super cold outside

we went to KTV last night at about 12am
the KTV place was huge and high class
seven of us booked the room from 12.30 to 5.30am

totally sang till we drop

after about 5 to 6 hours of sleep
i woke up at around 12pm
and we got ready to go for shopping
half of us were zombies, lacking of sleep
i bought a yellow shirt which was being bargain from 45RMB to 30RMB by Richong

today's a tiring day

she was the one who helped us to the max
i am very greatful for what she did
the very most we can do was to treat her a bullet train ride

i like doing it, better off then getting scammed by people
so today i was doing some protein expt
actually it's only the preparation
we need about 9 beakers or so
and these beakers need to be extra-duper clean
so it need to wash these beakers 50 times with tap water then 10 times with deionise water for each beaker
cool eh?

SLACK DAY!!!
i woke up at 10am today
the weather was suppose to turn warmer

but it was still not killing me
i tapao lunch to lab
and ate in lab

and spent the whole afternoon in lab, slacking with my PSP

for day 36-38, i will not be updating my blog
cos i was not in Tianjin
i was in Beijing

i'll roughly type out the happenings in Beijing
we went to Beijing by bullet train
this is my first time on the bullet train, i was very excited of course
we reached tianjin bullet train station at around 12plus
and the only tickets for the very next train we can get is the high class seat
(there are 2nd class, 1st class and high class seats)
we were quite rushing for time so we just took the high class seat
it cost 99RMB
the train is sleek and high tech looking
cool eh.
about high class seat, you will have your own personal space and they give you chocopie
that's all

we made our way to 天安门 and 故宫 (forbidden city)
this forbidden city is the real deal, not the one which we saw during sec sch
it's a whole lota big huge place
the ticket of forbidden city was 20RMB
it was the student price
cos we borrowed our senior's student pass,hehe
we started walking at 1pm
and about 5plus it closes
we didn't even tour the whole of it
oh the amazing thing is we saw andrew in forbidden city
the andrew from BLSS
it was shocking to stumble into someone i know in china
after we got out of forbidden city, our legs are tired, we went for food~
we went to 王府井街 to have some 小吃
they have fried starfish, scorpion and lotsa lotsa bugs
and i had

the next day, we went to 颐和园 which is the summer palace
this is where i learnt the cixi was someone who likes ang moh stuff
she even had a olden day Benz
and in the olden days, she's suppose to be pretty
in modern days, she's not another ordinary person (i shouldn't comment on that)

i think that summer palace is better than forbidden city
in scenery wise
in the night
we had the famous beijing roasted duck

it's so-so only, i like roast pig better

the third day
we decide to go to 长城 --八达岭长城 (Great Wall of China)
we knew that it was difficult and troublesome to make our way to GreatWall (GW)
so we decided to go with a tour
wow
the tour package was damn cheap
it's 100RMB and they bring you to five different places
GW, 十三陵 and a few more
it's like damn good
so we took the package
and what more special is that
they even have a driver to pick us up
from where we're staying
we got up the tour bus and we had an uneasy feeling
but it's too late to do anything
before the tour guide is collects the fees on bus she said
that there's a additional place that we are going and we need to pay extra 40RMB to go
she explain why it's expensive- she said because the tour agency is not earning money so this 40RMB will allow them to earn some money
so we tot it was reasonable and paid 140RMB
we just sat on the bus till we reached GW
for 十三陵, it's the place where emperors of china are being buried
so after GW, on the bus, the tour guide told us that we will not be going to the tomb
cause there are kids on board and some people might see things
so we went to some coocoo museum
it's like aren't we suppose to view tomb?
but now we came some dumb place which tells story about all emperors of china
nevermind after the last place, we were about to go back to the pick up point
then the tour guide say we are suppose to stop for a bus check
they we were bought to a nice place with a VIP room to sit and rest
and this is where the scamming happens
(i'll have it on the next post-and ya i got scammed,darn it!)

we were staying at a korean person house
the whole time in beijing
for 3 days and 3 nights
it's 560RMB for 2 person
it's not bad
and on the 2nd day, we had korean food for breakfast
they have the habit of eating rice in the morning
there's kimchi too.

in the night we had steamboat
at a place where it shall not be revealed

so we have decided
that we are going to beijing during the QingMingFestival holiday in china (5 april to 6april)
but if our senior give us advance leave, hehe, then we might stay there for another 2 days more

menglan called this morning from beijing, she's already there
she said that it's not really freeze cold
and she's staying in a hotel
and from her voice, it seems that the hotel is maybe 4 or 5 stars
we might book a place at the hotel, but we haven't really decide yet

and yesterday night, an annoying thing happened
i was using my com and it's about 2am
then suddenly the power in my room got cut off
it turn out that my electricity bill have reach the limit
so i have no choice but to sleep cos' the counter auntie must have gone home
then i woke up this morning to buy electricity
it's i think 1watt for 5.50RMB, if i heard it right
i paid 110RMB
then got electricity BACK
i was told by the auntie that i bought 200watt when i came on 1march
so i finished everything on 4april, in one month and 4days

dunno why but this year
my lunar birthday and 'english' birthday are on the same date
so i had my vemicillin (mee sua)
and hard boiled egg (too bad there was only braised egg)

had my afternoon off, but i still went back to the lab to slack
in the end, my senior gave me something to do
what a way to spend my afternoon

had dinner at one of their buffet place
it had a grand and posh setting
but their food is so-so only
i rather like s'pore buffet
i treated the my seniors dinner
and ivan warn me not to type the price out
cos' my mum will kill me "gluped"

the seniors were kind enough to buy me a birthday cake
wow
1st B'day in china and 1st china cake
one of female senior gave me a water bottle as present
wow i didn't expect it
it's a real cute bottle
and she was funny and cute enough to give me the present in private
the reason was that she didn't see anyone giving so she dare not give
(hey cute can be meant for anyone, like my sister and brother are cute-haha)

Happy April's Fool Day

woohoo. it's my birthday today

i'm not gonna boast about having such a NICE day for my birth date

i totally missed having pizza at home on my birthday

and of course my friends company

for now, china is a cold cold place

as in it's really cold now, freaking about 10plus degrees leh

my senior in lab is kind enough to give us a morning break today, as in i need to get to lab only in the afternoon

and tomorrow, maybe i'll get the afternoon off. What a good birthday present to get!

i was told that the weather is going to get warmer soon

i was very happy to hear about it

time flies it's now 1month/4months
so far my stay in china has been fine
other than the freezing weather and on and off of rashes
infact it has been quite smooth

another week has just started
and i'm lucky enough to get the whole of tomorrow's morning off
what can i want for more?
haha

this coming sat, sun and mon we're having holidays
it's for the Qiming festival
and currently i have 3 places to choose to go

1.Beijing

2.盘山 (somewhere in Tianjin,but it's kinda far away)

3.ShaoLinShi (少林诗)

i'm still thinking of which place will be better
or just camp and slack in my hostel

My new transformed room. I took it from the NTU students. They just moved out today, as they say that this hostel rent is expensive. So they gave us this "floor mats". It works wonders. This makes the floor not Icy cold and it's comfortable to step on.

Pro sia. Cool book eh.

Sunday arrives again!!!
it's was a friggin great day
but it was cold, today's temperature is about 1 - 8 degrees
we departed at 9.30am in the morning (that's so early for me, on a sunday morning)
and headed to the Clay House
it was a good place to take pictures
had fun there

After that we went to 古文化街 to window shop
i bought a book from there for 20RMB
and did a cool keychain for 10RMB
and bought tau sa pian (some nice food)

and yesterday we went to the pirated DVD shop and i got ghostwhisperer season 1-3 for 25RMB
and got some HULU for RMB4 each

it's was quite fun, i sucked at it

my rash is back, because of the cold weather
was damn itchy last night
haha but it's in control

we went dinner at a new place today
have been here for almost 4 weeks
we have been to most eateries
so for today we had dinner with the 4 NTU peeps

it's weekday
what can i expect, work work work
so there nothing much to write on work
cos' it's about doing boring experiment
but sometimes there might be interesting parts, only sometimes
oh it snowed this morning and afternoon (24th march)
BUT sadly, i missed it.
i woke up late this morning and in the afternoon, i was in the lab
hope i can see it tomorrow
we also met the other 4 singaporean

oh wait, i just received a message telling me that i need not go lab tomorrow, weee~

about the singaporean, they're from NTU
2 of them are in mechanical engineering, 1 from civil the other is aerospace
yup that's all tomorrow will be a happy day.

sunday best...
woke up late
we (sam, CC ,dave my senior and i) went to a shopping mall for lunch
we ate at what seems like a foodcourt
the food there is , erm, to put it bluntly, salty and so-so
after that we went window shopping
and to my amaze i saw a shirt that caught my heart and eye
here's the picture of it; (it's about 20 plus SGD)- i think it's not a fake product
it's a round neck tee!

i bought a pair of trunks at the other uni (Nankai Uni)
as both Nankai and Tianjin Uni are side by side
( i was told that Nankai Uni's swimming pool is better, as in water quality)
wanted to swim in the evening but we ended up shopping with Sam, dave, their senior and me
we went to somewhere like orchard road in tianjin
too bad the mall sells mostly ladies stuff
but i bought a adidas pants (40RMB = about 9 SGD)

erm i'm lazy , cause today was a busy day

we went many crazy places and went crazy

visited the hospital (i'm not the sick one, no worries)

then a shopping mall where they have lotsa cheap stuff (and i bought a sling bag)

then carrefour for some daily necessities

the a bar (we went in and got seated then after looking at the menu, we sneak out)

then to a place to play pool but it was full

finally to a coffee house.

results were released today
didn't do well
got a 3.0
seems like getting into uni will be difficult
gotten over about worrying
just have to work harder
finally, saturday, rest day
it's hard work every other weekdays

it's now about results and nothing else
as in nothing other else, seriously
needa get into local uni

that's the theme park i went to, there's a roller coaster with double loop, a spinning thing and a sun that seriously look like jurong west stadium's spotlight.

lab work was good

the temperature did drop a hell lot, it's getting warmer, i just wore my short arena pants and a short sleeve T-shirt down
dave and i went to get some hangers
today lab was doing HPLC and doing some cool enzyme immobilization thingy

firstly, important stuff, the temperature have risen since yesterday, yeah!~
from double layer shirt with jacket to single layer shirt with jacket
having monday blues?
it's alright for me today
doing almost the same routine job
but today was more interesting
used the HPLC machine
but still have doubts about it
oh and also i did small balls of Sodium Alginate by using a syringe, too bad i did take a picture of it
i went to the gym today
it's not as good as singapore's gym
but it's still okay i think
half the machines i used when gyming with dihui cannot be found in this gym
but i'll think of alternatives
there seems to be a good amt of foreign in their gym
ya and i paid 185RMB for their 3 months membership
haha
we had sweet potato after gym
sold by some auntie by road side
sorry mum, i shouldn't eat roadside food
but it's not bad to have something hot in the cold weather

time passes fast
i hope it pass even faster

two weeks gone about 3 months and a week more to go
today is sunday
so we thought of having some fun
4 of us (samantha, dave, cc and me-the 3 and a half singaporean maybe) decide to go to the tian jin ferris wheel and if there's time, the theme park
sounds like a lot of fun and money spending
i'll be sure to take pictures

13th and 14th day

13th day-Day of super duper strong wind

it was a freaking windy day
the kind of wind that you can feel a resistance of walking forward
it totally freeze my hands and for the first time my fingers were in pain
and the wind was dry too
my hands were totally moisture free after escaping the wind
as we ran to the lab

it sucks during the night
the toilet bowl in my room got choked
i went to the uncle at the lobby of the hostel for help
he said he could only get the repair man or plumber
-i didn't know what he was saying
and i had no choice
and he said that i wasn't suppose to dump toilet paper into the toilet bowl
cause it will choke the toilet bowl
i was stunned
but unfortunately it work this way here
but miracles happen on friday 13th
after an hour, it went unchoked
so thank friday (x13)

14th day

we decided to wash our blankets and pillow cases today
it takes almost an hour for the washing machine to wash
thus we laze around in our rooms
and when it's done we went down and dump it into the dryer
and then we saw a cleaning auntie
(she changed our lives)
she told us not to wash the bedsheets, pillow and blanket cases next time
cause we can change it every two weeks
by just give them the old ones for exchange

i overslept today
and it rained
woke up at 8.50am

raining is a rare occurance in tianjin
that what one of the senior said

in addition i am still maybe sick with rashes
then i called my senior
and guess what?
he said i should brave the rain and wind as i still have rashes
so i fall back into my slumber till it was 11.15am
cool eh

after that, went to the lab and you know the daily routine i do
need not repeat again

yesterday i got the spots thingy
so today the senior asked us to go to the hospital
i didn't brought my camera along,wasted
but anyway
the doctor supect that it was due to the hair tonic i was using
thus having the allergy, as normally my mum would help me apply this few times i apply it myself, and maybe i was careless or whatever
it's cost 180RMB for the medicine
and they gave chinese and western medicine
haah
what a combination...
so in the afternoon we went back to the lab
and i did some stuff again (when i said stuff, it means that i was blur when doing it, or didn't know what i was doing)
in the night
we went shopping!!!
we as in the sense me,CC(the one who works in the same lab with me,who's from singapore),Dave the guy fromCBE and samantha from CBE
we went carrefour
and i bought a lot of things
i'll upload the things i bought tomorrow

day ten was a tiring day

there were little spot around my face

from afar it's fine but when near, u can see little spot like rashes

it wasn't itchy but in the night, i became itchy

i remembered scene of myself waking up in the middle of night and scratching my face

haha

lab was normal, we mixture some chemical i dun remember the name as it was in chinese

then use the spectro to measure the abs readings

and then lunch came, i was released at about 12.30pm

then i went to feast on noodles and tak pau steam dumplings back to hostel

my senior said that he will be meeting me outside my hostel

i psp-ed and nap a while

at 2.30pm he called and pass me something and ask me to head back to the lab

it was a cool new equipment

althought he said that this equipment has phase out

it's something that is able to estimate molecular weight of a substance by measuring it's viscosity

it looked something like that except there a third inlet

haha

and in the process of using

we broke it

as we need to make it stand upright and i suggest a way and my senior tried it and opps, crack

i was really stunned, speechless

and i return to the lab in the night

and did more stuff

i helped to prepare some solution which need to be use the next day

honestly i dunno what i was doing

but i added some stuff every 3 mins

so i must be seated a my place with my stopwatch and add

it's not that bad, seriously

today was the start of my first experiment in lab
it was calculation for the start and till the end
how exciting -_-!
what i did was dilute the chemicals till different conc.
(and again i couldn't calculate the conc. thank god, the senior helped me,haha)
then after a while we used the spectrophotometer to measure the absorbance
and then a curve was plotted
they say we need to use curve to estimate some values, which will be useful in a few days time
don't quite understand thought
but ya this is what i did today
and in the night which is about now
we went to wash our clothes
it's 3RMB per wash
we start the machine and leave it there and most likely, we'll go back down to check later haha
don't think anyone would steal our clothes.
yup that's all
hopefully tomorrow i'll get to do better stuff

i forgotten to blog yesterday
haha
as for yesterday, there are two new mates who joined us
samantha and dave
they're working within the same building with us but just different labs
in the night we went out to have dinner, i wanted to try china's macdonalds and KFC for some time
and we went
haha
it cost 18RMB which is about SGD 4
for 18RMB you get a extravaluemeal of nuggets
the fries taste the same as s'pore
nothing special
the nuggets maybe a little nicer
it ain't worth it i think
for 18RMB i could have gotten better food
so the next time i might try KFC instead, to see the difference
well that's all.

today's saturday
like in singapore i slack the whole of today too
if i were to type whatever dumb boring stuff i did today, it'll bore you till death, for sure
in conclusion, i slept till 11am, went to lab and went to carrefour to buy some stuff and went back to hostel
interesting stuff for today that is, two NP students arrived today, and most probably they'll be staying in the same hostel with us!!!

mmm, goodluck for the A levels dude, hope u'll get into a course of your choice in Uni

i always thought that slacking in the hostel was the best thing to do
it's appears to be the worst and most boring "favourite pastime"
so first thing at 8.30am in the morning, i went to the lab
it's takes about 15mins to walk to the lab, morning walk, i'll call it
my senior was away when i reached the lab, as he was away using a cool machine
the SEM (scanning electron microscope), i always imaged it as a cool machine, super high tech
i didn't know where my senior was, so i stayed in the lab looking at the other senior doing their experiment
it's was fun , just looking at what they're doing
so slacking in the lab seem not a bad idea too
we had lunch and went back to the lab for 'spring cleaning'
haha
so we cleared up some stuff in the lab
i was very happy to be cleaning the microscope, wasn't that happy when cleaning the window
after that they allow us to go back to hostel
in the night, after dinner, my partner need to head back to the lab to do his experiment
it's quite cool in the night
quite scary too
like silent hill
so after that i went back to hostel
and blog, like now.
so i will await another two person from NP to arrive tomorrow
they'll free me from my boredom

in fact today was the same as yesterday
i went to the lab and the senior, lijian explain the research i'll be doing
so i got a full view or rather idea of it
it's a short process rather but it was cool
if the whole reaction would occur successfully, it'll still take 8 to 10 days to have the final product
so i stayed in the hostel to sum up my report
then pack dinner from a stall just nearby (as in 20 steps away) of the hostel
then kinda slack till the night
i hope that i'll be able to start the project by tomorrow
